The Orihuela Costa is a coastal region in the province of Alicante, Spain, just south of Alicante city itself, close to the border with Murcia. it is also near near La Manga and Mar Menor.
For golf enthusiasts Orihuela Costa has three superb golf courses within a 5-minute drive, namely Las Ramblas, Campoamor and the famous Villa Martin, which was even home to the Spanish Open a number of years ago.
There is also a choice of another three 18-hole golf courses within easy striking distance of any area of the Orihuela Costa.
Travelling to the Orihuela Costa is easy, with a choice of two international airports, Alicante and Murcia, both within a 30-minute drive of the area.
The region covers several seaside resorts, including Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Campoamor and Mil Palmeras. The whole 16 Kilometre coastline has an abundance of Blue Flag beaches and numerous recreational activities and facilities.
Huge improvements have been made over the last 20 years in the infrastructure and facilities of the area, with the new La Zenia Boulevard now offering around 600 bars and restaurants, and development continues apace.
One of the most popular resorts in the Orihuela Costa is Cabo Roig. This area is located at the southern tip of the Costa Blanca, just 10 kilometres from Torrevieja, with its delightful palm-lined avenues, lush gardens and mountainous backdrops. The area offers unrivalled views to the Mar Menor and the famous sporting resort of La Manga.
Another spot is La Zenia, with many recreational facilities, such as water sports, golf, go-karting, tennis, playgrounds and many more.
Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca and Campoamor, all also have much to offer, with their natural sand dunes and pinewood backdrops to the long stretches of golden blue flag beaches.
Property in the Orihuela Costa has been surging in recent times, but you can still purchase an upstairs, low-rise, apartment with sea views, off road parking just three kilometres from the beach at Playa Flamenca for under €100,000.
For those overseas property investors with deeper pockets, the Orihuela Costa has some stunning resale and new, substantially built, detached villas for sale. For example, a three-bedroom villa on the beach side of the road in Dehesa de Campoamor area is available for €650,000. This will give you nearly 2,000 square foot of accommodation, with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and its own private pool in an extremely select area.
